The MOTOSONIC ultrasonic tank sensor takes tank level measurement to a whole new level. It uses contactless ultrasonic technology to measure the liquid level in the tank, achieving unparalleled measurement accuracy.
The flexible MOTOSONIC can be used to measure the liquid levels of a wide variety of media in any tank shape.
MOTOSONIC generates an ultrasonic signal, sends it towards the liquid surface, and measures the time it takes for the high-frequency sound wave to travel from the sensor to the liquid surface and back. Based on the measured time and the speed of sound, the distance between the sensor and the liquid surface and thus the tank content can be calculated.
It is important to take the tank shape, waves on the surface, and possible reflections in the tank into account in the calculation. Compared to other tank sensors, ultrasonic level measurement is a very accurate measurement method, as the distance is measured with an accuracy of ±2.5 mm and a resolution of 1.8 mm.
In addition, the measurement is performed without contact with the medium, so there are no wear effects as with mechanical measurement, which limit the service life of the sensor. The sensor is mounted using a classic 54 mm 5-hole flange or an 80 mm 6-hole flange adapter, but other flange shapes can also be used. The electrical connection is made via a Delphi connector. Tank contents of various tank shapes can be accurately reproduced even with simple displays using a reference value table stored in the sensor.
